Dumping DICOM Headers

The Vetstation allows you to view and edit the contents of DICOM file headers. There are a couple of ways to do this.

If you know the location of a DICOM file on the file system, then:

1.Go to the My Computer tab.
2.Right-click on the file(s) of interest and select Dump Files.  You can Ctrl-Click to select multiple (individual) files/folders, or Shift-Click to select a range.

Alternatively, if you're currently viewing a study and you want to view the header of a particular image, then:

1.Select the image of interest.
2.Select Tools > Utilities > DICOM Editor. A new window will appear showing the contents of the header of the selected image.

Known Bug: If you use this tool to modify DICOM headers, you must click to another row to commit the change before clicking the Save button on the toolbar.  If you do not do so, your change may not be saved even though it may appear to have done so.

Important Note: Modifying DICOM headers can cause irreparable loss of patient data and/or cause patient misdiagnosis.  Be very careful when using this tool to edit DICOM files from patient imaging studies.
