Work Queue UI

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

The Work Queue is the main processing queue of the ImageServer. Similar to the Studies screen, the Work Queue can be queried by several parameters, including the scheduled time, the type of queue entry, the queue entries status, priority, and status.

Several options exist for manipulating queue items: View Details, Reschedule, Reset, Reprocess and Delete. Work Queue items that Fail, can be either Deleted or Reset. If the item is reset, then it's status will be set to pending and will be tried again.  Work Queue items for processing a study can be set to reprocess. This will cause the entire study to be reprocessed, and is useful for recovering from some failures. Finally, as discussed below, a Work Queue item can be rescheduled and viewed in detail.

The Work Queue includes a refresh mechanism so that the  progress of work queue items can be automatically monitored. Initially, when going to the Work Queue page, the refresh is turned off. Turning the refresh on, makes the refresh time visible, which by default is 60 seconds.

Work Queue Item Details

Selecting a work queue item and clicking "View Details", or double-clicking on a selected item, will display the details of the item in a new window.  Information includes the type of item, when it is scheduled for processing, it's status, where it is being processed, etc. From the Work Queue Item details screen, the user can manipulate the item like on the Work Queue screen.  In the right hand corner of the screen is a refresh indicator, which indicates when the Work Queue Item details have been refreshed.

When a Work Queue item fails, a short synopsis of the failure reason can be seen from the main Work Queue page. The Work Queue Item Details page, however, will have a full description of the failure reason and is often useful for troubleshooting Work Queue failures.

Rescheduling a Work Queue Item

A work queue item may be rescheduled by selecting an item and clicking "Reschedule". The date/time and priority of the item can be changed as necessary.
