User Groups

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

A User Group is a collection of authority tokens that specify what actions a user can take on the system. User Groups can be added, edited and deleted only by users who are part of a User Group that has administrative tokens. There are two configurable User Group attributes:

Group Name:        the name of the group (must be unique)

Tokens:        a list of tokens that are part of the group.

By default, a number of User Groups are created related to the ImageServer.  The following table lists these User Groups and what they have authority for.

Group Name

Description

PACS Administrators

Users with the PACS Administrators group have access to all of the functionality in the user interface.

PACS Technologists

This group cannot configure the ImageServer, however, it has access to the majority of the rest of the features.  It is intended for technologists who have to perform QA related functions on the ImageServer.

PACS Read-only Users

This group is limited to searching and viewing the details of studies.

Add User Groups

The following screen shot shows the Add User Group dialog.  For a given group, the various authority tokens can be enabled and disabled, which in turn enable and disable different functionality within the web GUI.

Edit User Groups

User Groups can be edited. The activities that a user can perform will change if the user group is edited, because the tokens will no longer be part of their profile, or will have been added to their profile.

Delete User Groups

User groups can be deleted. If a user group is associated with a user, then the group cannot be deleted, and an error message will be displayed.
