Upgrading the ImageServer

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

There are two methods for upgrading the ImageServer to the latest release.  From the official 1.3 release, the ImageServer can be upgraded to the 1.5 release.  The installer will automatically detect the installed version, and offer the user the option of automatically upgrading the database and software through the installer.  ClearCanvas will continue to support automatic upgrades for officially released versions of the ImageServer software.  Automatic upgrades are discussed in the section Upgrading from Official Releases.

There is a second option for upgrading that can be used to upgrade between daily builds of the ImageServer or upgrading from a daily build.  It involves creating a clean install of the ImageServer software, then rebuilding the database by scanning existing filesystems.  Manual upgrades are discussed in the Upgrading from Daily Build or Rebuilding Database section of the manual.  Note that with this upgrade mechanism the basic ImageServer configuration is not preserved and must be recorded before upgrading.
