Searching for Studies

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

Searching is done from the main Studies screen.  A number of different fields can be searched on as show below.  The '*' character can be used as a multi-character wildcard when searching, and the '?' character can be used as a single character wildcard.

When searching by Patient Name, a single field is included for both first and last name.  The search is performed against the exact DICOM encoding of the Patient's Name, and thus it is recommended that wildcard characters be placed between the last and first name when searching.

When searching by Modality, an option is given to select multiple values for the modality when searching.  Simply select the check box for each modality being searched for.

Studies can also be searched using a date range between the "From Date" and "To Date" fields.

When searching, the ImageServer only retrieves a page worth of results.  It does, however, show the total number of studies found and allows the user to skip to a specific result page.

The Status column shows the current status of the study.  If the study has an entry in the Study Integrity Queue or the WorkQueue, the status displayed will also be a link to show the study's entry in the specific queue.

In the case that no search parameters are entered, which could result in a search that returns a large number of rows (e.g. 1 Million), a confirmation message will be displayed before the search is performed.
