Configure Service Scheduling

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

The service scheduling page is for configuring services that periodically run on the ImageServer. Because of the support of clustered servers (see Hardware Configuration), the service scheduling mechanism was designed to allow services to run on only one thread within a cluster of servers at a time. With the current ImageServer features, the services to be scheduled are all associated with a filesystem, although that may change in the future as we add additional features to the software.

As mentioned above, services on this page can be enabled or disabled. This is a handy feature for several use cases. It may be desirable to disable disk management on a disk in some cases. The Filesystem Delete service can be disabled in this case to prevent studies from being deleted from the system. There also may be a case where a user wants to define rules for compression, but doesn't want the compression to be applied for some time. In this case, the lossy or lossless compression services could be disabled. It is also possible to change when a service is scheduled. In both of these cases, the time when the service is scheduled could be changed into the future. It may also be useful to manually schedule one of the disk management related services to be run off hours in the evening or on a weekend to reduce load on the system.

The service scheduling configuration page allows for configuration of various services.
