Configure Devices

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

The device configuration page is used to configure DICOM Application Entities on the network that communicate with the ImageServer. The configuration of devices is done by partition where a device may be listed separately for each partition. Devices may be added, edited, deleted and queried

Adding a Device.

When adding or editing devices, several options are available.  The Add and Edit devices dialog has three tabs: General, Features and Throttle. The General tab has the following options:

AE Title:  The DICOM Application Entity (AE) Title of the DICOM device
Description:  A textual description of the device.
IP Address:  The IP Address or hostname of the device
DHCP:  When checked, the device is treated as a DHCP device where the IP address can change each time the device logs into the ImageServer.  The device table will be updated each time the device connects with its latest IP Address.
Port:  The TCP/IP listen port for the device.  Please see the Server Partition section for details on how devices can be automatically inserted into the device table when they connect to the ImageServer and how the port can be automatically set.
Partition:  The partition the device is associated with.
Enabled: When not set, the entry in the device table is ignored.

The Features tab when editing a device contains a number of DICOM services that can be enabled/disable for a device.  The following list summarizes these features:

Storage:  When disabled, the device will not be allowed to store new DICOM studies/images to the ImageServer. When enabled, there is an optional feature that will accept only Key objects and presentation states. All other studies/images will be rejected.
Auto Route:  When disabled, any auto-routing rules defined for the device are ignored.
Query:  When disabled, the ImageServer will not allow the device to query the server.
Retrieve:  When disabled, the ImageServer will not allow the device to retrieve studies from the server. (Note that studies can still be moved to the device from the Web GUI's main search screen.)

The Throttle tab can be used to configure how many simultaneous associations the ImageServer can initiate to a device.  By default, a device is configured to support an unlimited number of simultaneous associations.  When a limit is configured, the ImageServer will restrict the number of associations as configured in this tab.
