Introduction

The ImageServer tracks alerts that occur in ImageServer processing.  The Alert mechanism is most useful to track failures in processing that potentially require operator  intervention.  This may be for failure WorkQueue items that require action, or when the ImageServer find a file corruption which makes a study unreadable.  Alerts can be one of four different levels: Critical, Error, Warning, or Informational.  The alerts can be filtered using Component, Date, Category and Level. Each Alert item has a link to the Application logs where the log items surrounding the alert are displayed.

Alerts can be deleted, either by deleting selected alerts, or by deleting all the alerts that are part of the current query.  When enabled, old alerts are automatically archived to a filesystem periodically.  See the Service Scheduling page for more details.

In addition to the alerts page, there is an alert indicator that is part of the login information at the top right-hand corner. The alert indicator only displays Critical alerts. If the user has permission to view alerts, the alert indicator will be displayed, and when moused-over, will display a list of the five most recent critical alerts. Clicking "View All Alerts" will bring the user to the Alerts page.

In the case of work queue item failures, a "more info" link is displayed, which will show a pop up dialog that will display the study information for the failed item (if any). The pop up dialog provides a link to view the study in question, and the work queue item itself.
