ClearCanvas Workstation 2.0 is an integrated RIS client and DICOM image viewer. It can be configured as as a standalone viewer, or with both the RIS and viewer capabilities together, allowing you to access the ClearCanvas RIS, view images from other DICOM devices and stream images from the ImageServer.
Installing Workstation as a standalone ImageViewer only
To install as a viewer only, download and run the Workstation installer. When prompted for the installation type, select ImageViewer Only. When prompted for the DICOM Server Settings for this device, enter a unique AE Title and specify the port you want the ImageViewer to listen on. This completes the installation of Workstation as a viewer only.
Installing Workstation as an integrated RIS Client and ImageViewer
1. Select ImageViewer & RIS Client
Download and run the Workstation installer but select the integrated ImageViewer & RIS Client option instead. This changes the application to begin with a login prompt on startup and it can only be used if you sign on with a RIS user account. You cannot disable the login process unless you reinstall without the RIS Client component.

Choose ImageViewer & RIS Client to continue with the RIS Server configuration.
IMPORTANT: The RIS Client is designed to work with the RIS Server. So, before you install Workstation in integrated RIS/ImageViewer mode, make sure that there is a RIS Server running on your network, otherwise you will not be able to login to use the Workstation. |
2. Specify RIS Hostname and Port
If you specified the Local Client Only option during the RIS Server install, you must use the default value (localhost) as the RIS Server hostname. If you changed the port of the RIS Server, specify the new port here as well. If you select Remote Clients configuration during the RIS Server install, you must enter the hostname of the RIS Server computer.

Accept default values for Local Client Only configuration.
3. Specify DICOM Settings
When prompted for the DICOM Server Settings for this device, enter a unique AE Title and specify the port you want the ImageViewer to listen on. If you wish to use the default port 104 you must ensure that the same port is not already in use by another application on the same machine and is not blocked by your firewall. If you have already installed Image Server on this computer and it is using the default port 104 you must specify another port to be used by Workstation.

Assign an AE Title to this Workstation that is unique to your network.
