These instructions for the installation of the .NET Framework as a software prerequisite apply to ImageServer, RIS, and Workstation.
Which versions of .NET do I need?
Your Windows operating system must have .NET 3.0 installed in order to use ClearCanvas software as well as .NET 2.0 installed to use SQL Server and the Web component of the ImageServer.
It is recommended that all versions of the .NET Framework including the latest Service Packs be installed onto your computer. There are two ways to do this.
| 1. | You can access Windows Updates from your Start Menu and select the .NET Framework updates for installation. |
| 2. | You can access the download directly from the Microsoft website and install .NET 3.5 Service Pack 1 which includes .NET 2.0 SP2 and .NET 3.0 SP2 and have them installed all at once. |
If you are using method 2, after installing the .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 package you should immediately install update KB959209 to address a set of known application compatibility issues. This comprises of three separate updates which must be applied one at a time.
If you check your Add/Remove Programs and see that you already have the .NET 2.0 and 3.0 Framework, it is still recommended that you install the full .NET 3.5 SP1 package and updates as there are some known issues with specific versions of .NET 2.0 and 3.0.
