Getting Started Guide

ClearCanvas Workstation User's Guide

Current Version: 1.5 (2009-08-06)

ClearCanvas Workstation 1.5 comes with some of our most impressive features yet. Most notable are:

  • Optional ClearCanvas RIS Integration.  The ClearCanvas RIS Client is now a part of the Workstation, providing seamless integration between the RIS and PACS.
  • Key Images. Users can add markup to images and then store the markup as part of the study. Under the hood, DICOM Key Object Selection Documents and Presentation State Sops are created and sent automatically to any default servers.
  • Automatic Priors Search. After a study has been initially opened, the local store and any default servers are automatically searched for prior/related studies. Prior studies found on a ClearCanvas Streaming Server can be opened directly!
  • Text User Annotations. An important feature of any PACS viewer is the ability to add text markup to an image. There are now two different text annotation tools in CC: plain text and text with a callout.
  • Polygonal ROI. Indispensable to clinicians and researchers alike, the polygonal ROI tool is what you would expect, except it also has the ability to modify the ROI after it has been created by adding and removing vertices.
  • DICOM Overlays. DICOM overlays embedded in the image header are now supported and can be individually toggled on/off.
  • Survey/Explode. A very handy tool for those who like to look at lots of images all at once and then quickly focus in on a particular series or image.
