Hi
Could anyone assist me with the following problem?
I have just installed my RIS Server 2.0 on a server running MS Server 2008 R2 SP1(64bit), I am running SQL Server 2008 R2 (64 bit). The server is a Virtual Machine virtualized through Microsoft's hypervisor.
The RIS Server and the Client installed with a no errors and I have installed them both on the same machine, opting for the local installation. I then enabled Remote Desktop Services (RemoteApp).
I can log on to the RIS fine both locally and on remote machines using the RemoteApp Installer Package. I can Browse through the different folders, access all the administration and configuration pages. However, i then created a 2 sample patients with all the required information. The patient creation is successful, however when click on the created patients, the client just hangs, indefinately. I have tried it both locally on the server and from a remote machine and the same issue occured.
Could someone please assist,as this has huanted me all week.I have attached both the RIS server logs and workstation logs.
Regards,
Sibusiso

Sorry, but I can't open your attachments because the names are too long. Can you try re-attaching? |

The only attachment I can see is a SQLCE log... Can you send the RIS server logs and workstation logs? |

Sibusiso,
Is it possible to include a screenshot that can show us the application state, when one of the sample patients is selected. We would like to see exactly which functions are enabled and which are disabled.
Note: when you attach the screenshots, please ensure that it does not contain any real patient data.
Thanks. |

Sibusiso:
Another thing to note is that creating a new patient isn't enough to have that patient readily accessible from the RIS client. For example, for the patient to actually show up in any of the worklists, they must have an exam scheduled that match the critera for that worklist.
In general, to test this out, here's what you need to do:
- Search for the patient you just created using the search box.
- Once found, select the patient, and create a new order for the patient. Make sure the order is scheduled.
The scheduled order should now appear in one of the worklists (if the worklist is configured properly). |

Hii Cliinton The second part is where it freezes. Once the patient is create, when i click on it to try ad create an order(booking), it freezes and then the application just refuses to respond. The option to create a new order is grayed out before i select the test patient, however once I have selected the test patient, then the option is available but the application does not respond. The only error I see is related to SQL CE, which could be causing the hang. On and x64 machine, you have to install BOTH the x86 version and the x64 version, otherwise the viewer part of the workstation cannot query it's local studies. I suppose this could be causing the hang, although I'm not sure why. Make sure you have the latest versions of SQL CE installed on the machine and make sure both x86 and x64 versions are installed. |

I have just installed on Windows 7 Ultimate (32 bit) and I am seeing the exact same freeze issue i.e. search for a patient then select from the results and the window freezes. I don't see any error messages in either my workstation or RIS server logs. |

As far as I know, these are the only two times this problem has been reported, yourself included. In both cases it happened on a virtual machine where the client process hung with a maxed CPU on selecting the patient results in the item list. We actually use VMware (ESX3i and 4 with vSphere) quite extensively around here but have never seen this problem in our labs. The OP also used multiple VMs (not sure which brand) but unfortunately, the problem only presented on one particular VM and not another, identically setup VM. So it was rather elusive since it couldn't be reproduced on another machine and seems to be specific to the environment it was in. If you're able to successfully reproduce it on another VM, this would go a long way in helping us to identify the problem. Could you list some details about your hardware and software setup? John |

I could get you a copy of the Virtual Machine
p.s. Attached is some info from the CC Workstation log file. Basically the exception happens when I close the application after it has frozen.

I am having the exact same problem. Windows 2008 r2, IIS 7 x64.
Does anyone know of a workaround for this issue - will a remote client work properly? |
