After using the RIS online demo here are some comments on it, I'll come with more later:

  • Didn’t find a place to manage billing options, workflows, users/roles, orders catalogue, practitioners, etc…
  • It will be better if report writing done using rich text control with definable report templates instead of plain text
  • Report print is sent directly to default printer, adding page setup option is better to select different printer
  • When adding a patient Date of Birth it is entered manually it will be better if a DateTimePicker is utilized to pick the date.
  • Adding addendum to the report is dimmed after report been reviewed however in some cases the report may need corrections, so I recommend making it available after the report review while keeping an audit trail of such changes.
  • After verifying a report the verify button is inactive while I got this statement  on the end of the report “Report (Preliminary - 12-ديسمبر-2008 11:31 *** THIS REPORT HAS NOT BEEN VERIFIED ***) “

Hi Wael,

A lot of the admin type features you mention are available when you have the administrative role. We obviously don't give admin access to the public since that might mess up our demo. :)

BTW, I'm going to move your post into the user's forum.

Wael-

Thanks for your feedback.  To respond to some of the above comments:

  • Management/Admin screens are not available in the online demo.  The demo is meant to show only the common day-to-day workflow.
  • Report writing - The report editor is actually a pluggable component, and what you see in the demo is an example of a bare bones report editor.  It is expected that developers will want to write their own report editors for various reasons, such as integration of speech recognition or structured reporting.
  • Report printing - Showing the Print Options dialog would be a good idea. We have noted this as a feature request.
  • Patient Date Of Birth - We originally had used a DateTimePicker but our user feedback suggested we change it to a text-based control.  DateTimePickers are more useful when the date to be selected is relatively close to the current date, whereas a birthdays are distributed randomly throughout the past century or so.
  • Report Verification - There is a slight delay between when the user hits Verify and when the system actually considers the report as verified.  This is by design, and the length of the delay is configurable.  The purpose is to allow the Radiologist a grace period, in case the report was accidentally verified and needs to be revised.  Once the grace period elapses, the report is considered "final" and can not be changed.  The text that says "This report has not been verified" is misleading during that grace period, and we should probably change it to something more accurate.  However, this message should disappear within about 30 seconds when the grace period elapses, if you refresh the worklist item.
  • Addendums - The Add Addendum tool becomes enabled after the grace period expires.
