Hello,

We are using the free version of ImageServer [2.0.12655.37768] and I am trying to configure a partition archive for one of the partitions. The steps I have taken are as follows:

  • Disable all rules on the server (to help me figure out how things work)
  •  Create the Partition Archive with an Archive Delay of zero hours
  • Enable the Default Online Retention rule with the following XML:

  • Enable and run "Filesystem reapply rules" under Service Scheduling

This causes the studies from the partition to go into the Archive Queue, from where they are copied to the archive, as I would expect.

However, the studies are never purged from the online partition. Each study is scheduled for a "Purge study" one minute in the future, as I would expect (I can see this in the File System Queue tab under Study Details). BUT this purge never happens.

I've also tried setting the file system watermarks ridiculously low and again re-applying the filesystem rules. This doesn't work either.

Am I doing something wrong here? Is there another rule I need to create / enable?

I am effectively trying to migrate ALL studies in the partition across to the archive straight away (or as close to that as possible). Is there another way I should be doing this?

your disk usage must be above high water to trigger a purge. Is it?

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, the disk usage is above the high water mark. I set the water mark to a low value then I reprocessed the file system, to no effect.

Under Service Scheduling, do you have the "Filesystem Watermark Check" service enabled for your filesystem? This is the service that should actual perform the "purge". It should log to the application log when it detects the watermarks have been reached, and it should report progress as it schedules items to be purged.

That fixed it!

Thanks Steve.
