I receive exams from a single device.  When I receive these exams, there's a "prefix" added to the beginning of the accession number.  So the accession number looks like "X-8914358" or "Z-917821398".  "X-" and "Z-" are the prefixes.

Is there any way for ClearCanvas to strip the prefix out when I receive the exam?

Unfortunately, no, the ClearCanvas ImageServer does not have the capabilities to modify fields in DICOM files automatically at this time. You'd have to do a manual edit of every study.
