upgrade to 1.3 daily update version -----> 1.5 version (NEED HELP badly)

Hello Guys,

I had some issues going on with the 1.3 daily build hence decided to go to version 1.5 but I have encountered some problems and I would really appreciate your help.

I encountered a problem with the DB upgrade.  I followed the instructions "Upgrading from Daily Build or Rebuilding Database".  Here is what I did and what happened.

1)  Did a full DB backup.

2) I then ran the  uninstall and told it to NOT TO remove my DB when it asked me.

3) Now when I ran the 1.5 version install

4) when I try to access the existing DB, it gives me this error:

I do not know what else to do now. There is no documentation on how to resolve such issues and what step to take.

I really need your guys help ..please advise me what to do ...my whole system is down and I need to get this up asap.

Tim,

We do not support direct upgrades from daily builds, only from the official releases. You need to follow the upgrade instructions in the section "Upgrading from Daily Build or Rebuilding Database" in the user's manual. In this procedure, the database is not saved, so you probably will have to delete the database, then install the 1.5 version clean...

Hello Steve,

The user's manual is vague and does not explain in detail how to perform the steps. I install 1.5 without deleting the previous db. It works but Im not sure if it is working properly.

So when you say delete the database, do I have to manually delete from the DB server? and then reinstall 1.5 again?

Tim,

Basically, the upgrade from a daily build requires a "clean" install, where the prior version is completely removed (including the database), the new version is installed, the settings are replicated from the prior version, then a reinventory is run to repopulate the database.

I'm not sure what happened in your case, but unless you did this, I don't think it will work properly.
