I am a newbit to DICOM toolkit and would like to build high level services above the toolkit.

To do so I need to understand the design and archititctureof the toolkit

Is there any guideline that describes the basic design of the DICOM toolkit?

There are no real guidelines or documentation for the DICOM library. Your best bet is to look at how the library is used in the ImageServer and ImageViewer code.

FYI, there already are a number of high level services implemented in the DICOM library. You can look into the ClearCanvas.Dicom.Network.Scu and ClearCanvas.Dicom.Network.Scp namespaces.

Thanks for your prompt reply

I wanted to create a high leve wrapper to be something like DicomObjects design

Anyhow, I will dive in the ImageServer and ImageViewer code to do this

I was just wishing if there is any Class Diagram or basic design draft regarding the DICOM implementation for Part 3 and Part 4

The other thing I could have mentioned is that in our repository (its not included in the SDK) is a sample application for the DICOM library (Trunk\Dicom\Samples). This implements a Storage SCU, Storage SCP, and Query SCU, which might be a simpler way to see how to utilize the library.

Note, however, that this doesn't use the high level Storage SCU developed in the DICOM library. It uses the baseline interface for networking. We just never moved the samples over to use this new SCU after it was developed.
