Hello,

I installed CC Workstation 2.0SP1 some time ago and there are images I cannot open properly (they come from this website : http://pubimage.hcuge.ch:8080 and I open them with the "my computer" browsing function).

So I want to check ClearCanvas.Server.ShredHostService.log log file. I closed Workstation prior to opening the file, in case there would be some lock.

I cannot either open it, or open it with text editor launched with admin rights, or change ownership ("unknown owner", changing owner to computer administrators group gives "access denied"). My user session runs a Windows Seven (32 bits) administrative account.

I also tried to copy the file from it's original location (Program Files' CC Workstation default log directory) to some directory I know I can write into. It fails with following "You'll need to provide administrator permission to copy this file". I click on "continue", and get "You need permission to perform this action - You require permission from the computer's administrator to make changes to this file". Below this message, I have "try again" and "cancel" buttons.

Thanks for any hint.

PS : I feel like the forum search function doesn't work well (I often get no result) so am glad there is a custom Google search. I'm also disturbed by the fact there is no "back" button when I browse a multi-pages topic, or on a search result page. When I hit back button on my browser,  it doesn't work well (I go back to thread first page or search results come up again). I don't mind but if the forum application doesn't handle browser back button, please provide a back link or button or make it more visible :)

Hi Barbara,

Did you, by any chance, delete the log file? If you did, you'll have to restart the ShredHostService (it also accesses the same log file). To do, open the Services Control Panel (Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services), find the ClearCanvas.Server.ShredHostService.exe entry and restart it.

When you delete the log file while the app is running (either the Workstation or ShredHostSerivice), the log file becomes inaccessible even by administrators, until you kill the offending process. All logged events between when you deleted the original log and when you kill the offending process are irrecoverably lost (known issue #3672).

Hope this helps,

// Jasper
