Hi deucescoop,

Assuming by "files being randomly deleted" you mean studies on your Workstation are being deleted from the local data store, then what you're seeing is the diskspace manager at work. The Workstation is a PACS client and is not really meant to archive your studies - that is, keeping the only copy of any particular study - and is typically used to retrieve a study from a PACS server for viewing. The diskspace manager deletes studies when your file system's disk usage exceeds a certain limit (the high watermark) - and when it does, it removes studies until it reaches a minimum threshold (the low watermark). There is also a mode where it limits the number of studies kept locally. You can configure these numbers by going to Tools -> Options -> Diskspace Manager. http://clearcanvas.ca/docs/Workstat...gement.htm.

Hope this helps,

Hi,

1. Shut down both any running instances of the Workstation, and the ClearCanvas.Server.ShredHostService (in the Windows Services control panel).
2. Move the filestore folder somewhere else.
2. Edit the ClearCanvas.Server.ShredHostService.exe.config. Find the LocalDataStoreServiceSettings node and change the StorageDirectory to point to the new location.
3. In the dicom_datastore folder, delete the viewer.sdf. Then make a copy of empty_viewer.sdf, and call it viewer.sdf
4. Restart the service and the Workstation.
5. Run a data store reindex from the Tools Utilities menu.

And for good measure, set the diskspace manager's high and low watermarks to 100% and 95%.

Hope this helps!

What does that do exactly?

Move the filestore and have it run on another drive?

Is there perhaps a particular step that you would like me to explain more clearly?

Quick question:

Where / when is the user warned that the hi-water mark is approaching?? Because if you have a 2TB local data store and you leave these settings defaulted... that's a LOT of data to suddenly "lose". ...speaking from experience. Excuse the frustration :-)

Hi, currently there is no warning to the user, but we do have a ticket to rectify that.  Can't say right now when it will be added in, though.

As a side note, unlike the ImageServer, the Workstation was not designed to be used as a permanent archive.  If you have 2TB of studies, you should consider using ImageServer to store them and then stream them to the Workstation.  When you have that many studies stored on the Workstation, it will probably take a long time to start up because all the studies are queried for and listed in the study browser.
